Greetings Whiz Kids!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to begin working tomorrow. To assist with acquiring new vocabulary and learning how to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words in context, I have created a schedule for vocabulary practice that allows each of you to spend 20 minutes on the computer one day a week. You will visit the Wordly Wise 3000 website to listen to your vocabulary words and play the vocabulary games to help with mastery. This should be lots of fun as well as a great way to practice your vocabulary words. Here is the schedule. I have placed the schedule under the Class Schedules tab too. We will begin our new activity tomorrow.
A BIG thank you to those that attended the Native American Wax Museum that the Whiz Kids hosted. They were quite creative in designing and creating their costumes. It was wonderful to see them in action behind the scenes. The children are quite pleased with the outcome! What a FAHHHHHHBULOUS time we had January 6th, 2016!! Mrs. Traeger and I took the kiddos to the Youth Museum of Cobb to learn about the making of America!! The children were in costume and preformed skits that allowed them to reenact the Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre, the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence and many of the events that led up to that day!! WOW!!! It truly was a WONDERFUL way to learn American history and the children LOVED it!!! Mrs. Traeger, knowing her partner, signed me up for one the skits. LOL!! We enjoyed recreating the monumental moment when Crispus Attucks becomes the first casualty of the war. Crispus Attucks was played by Dane D. He did a fantastic job and took his acting debut quite seriously. It took Crispus a few minutes to let go of life. GREAT JOB DANE!!! Take at look at the pictures!! We look GREAT!!! Welcome Back!! I hope you all have adjusted to returning to school and are ready to give your all. The second semester has begun which means we are going to slide into blast off mode and kick it up several notches!! We are in our last semester and soon to be rising 5th graders!!! Are you all ready? We will begin to incorporate a lot more open-ended responses also known as constructed responses so F. A. T. responses are a must!! Parents, please read the letter below. It was sent home last Friday in the Friday folders. It details the expectations for the new semester. The children and I have reviewed the letter together and discussed the expectations. WHIZ KIDS, LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!! Remember, SUCCESS IS THE ONLY OPTION!! |
