Hello Whizzies,
Make sure you are studying and completing assignments. School is quickly coming to a close and grading is important. Although you are not responsible for close reading for homework, you should be reading at least 30 minutes daily. Sincerely, Ms. Walker We are ROCKING and ROLLING!!! The Whiz Kids have finished day 2 and 3 of testing. They have done a FANTASTIC job!!! I am SOOOOOOO proud of their hard work, concentration, and commitment to giving their best effort. They have used their time wisely, checked over their work and maximized the test time allotted. I couldn't ask for more!!! THANKS WHIZZIES FOR YOUR AWESOMENESS!!! I am honored to be your teacher!! Tomorrow is the last day of testing. Social Studies, here we come!! Day 1 of testing down, 4 more to go!! I am so proud of the Whizzies for working hard and giving their all on Day 1. Keep up the great work!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Time to DAB ON THEM!!!
Do you have ideas to create something that you know could change the world? Well, start planning and recording your ideas because Kid Talk is is here!! The contest ends April 15th!! Create a video pitching your ideas and make sure you adhere to the deadline and requirements!! I know that you can make something EPIC so get to it!!!
Check out the link for more information!! The topic is “If I knew I couldn’t fail, I would…”. All Submission are due by April 15. Any info needed is in the link! http://kidtalkcobb.com/ The students were charged with the task of writing a letter to President Barack Obama regarding what they wish they could tell/ask him given the opportunity. The students had to proofread each other's writing for conventional mistakes as well as make sure their partner responded appropriately to the prompt. They they had no idea their work would be passed on to President Obama. However, when I returned, I showed the pictures that I took during my lesson to explain the importance of always doing one's best work because one never knows where it will land. Recently, I had a serious discussion with both classes after taking a mock test. I specifically explained two constructed response prompts and discussed testing language. ALL of my students are fully capable of ROCKING those questions yet I had some students finish in 20 minutes although given an hour and submit work that is far from their best! It is my hope that after viewing pictures and learning that President Barack Obama will receive their letters, the lesson will be learned and the thought will forever be etched in their minds to ALWAYS give their best effort! Our class motto is We CAN! We WILL! Success is the ONLY option!! I am serious about that and work hard to make sure it comes to fruition. The students also learned a lot about our system of government as well as obtained a personal view of how The President of the United States travels. Real life experience is always a bonus in the classroom! Unfortunately, they had to be mailed due to security issues. However, I was assured he will read them and respond. Feel free to read the submitted letters below. For all that were unable to attend, the fourth grade team hosted an informative meeting on the upcoming Georgia Milestones Test. Parents were able to ask questions, receive testing practice materials and learn tips to assist their child with preparation for the test.
